“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God.” Hebrews 12:2
Theoretically, we become able to endure our own
Cross as we look confidently to Jesus
and His Gospel. However, this has become increasingly difficult as we find that
our confidence has been whittled down by numerous opposing voices. As a result,
we are “tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine,” (Eph.
Consequently,
many who profess a faith in Christ find it difficult to say that other
religions aren’t equally valid. Therefore, it should be no surprise that a
recent survey found that 53% of “Evangelical Christians” claimed that there was
no absolute truth.
Most Christians
lack the scholarship and the tools to decisively refute these challenges, and
if they go unchecked, will dampen excitement for the Word and discourage Bible
study and application. This becomes the unraveling of the Christian life.
This Seminar will
help to restore faith in God Word’s by bringing to light its hidden glory. It
will uncover the indelible imprint of God’s authoring hand, eliminating the
possibility that the Bible was written by uninspired authors. In order to
accomplish this, the Seminar will examine the themes of Christ, the Covenants,
the Atonement, the Resurrection, and the Gospel, by exposing underlying patterns
of thematic unity that run throughout the Scriptures.
Despite the
explicit assertions in the Bible that life is a matter of following the Law, on
a deeper level we encounter numerous cryptic portraits of the Cross and the
Good News it brings. Similarly, we find repeated assertions that God is One.
However, beneath the surface, Scripture silhouettes a more nuanced reality--that
this One God is also Three Persons. All of these cryptic sketches cry out for
an explanation that is found in the fact that God is the ultimate Author. Only
God could have laid out such cryptic and yet consistent designs throughout
Scripture.

Although God
pointed the way to Christ in many ways, faith still proved elusive. It was
through Daniel’s weakness and his struggle for certainty that God opened the
door to the treasures of Scripture and consequently of a growing assurance.
